Review: Matched

Title: Matched
Author: Ally Condie
Seiries: Matched
Publisher: Dutton Books
Published: November 2010

IN THE SOCIETY OFFICIALS DECIDE. WHO YOU LOVE. WHERE YOU WORK. WHEN YOU DIE.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It's hardly a price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one... until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with the impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's ever known and a path no one else has ever dared follow - between perfection and passion.

Matched is a must read and I admit it I judged the book by it's beautiful cover, fortunately I wasn't disappointed and the cover lived up to its looks. I couldn't put down the thrilling tale of Cassia and Ky. I loved how the romance took place in a controlled world in the future. The story focuses on the life of 17 year old Cassia. Everything's going exactly right (of course it is the society's always right!), she's matched with her best friend Xander, she might get the perfect job and then she starts falling for the wrong person. When secrets are shared, rules are broken, and tablets are eaten, Cassia's "perfect life" is thwarted, and the truth about the society is revealed.

What I didn't like about this dystopian fiction was that there seemed to be a lot of un-needed baackround information and the author described what was going on a little too much, with a few unneeded flashbacks, some that didn't make sense.

Overall I really enjoyed Matched by Allie Condie. The book ended with a cliff-hanger one making you want more and more. Luckily for us there's more to come.

Crossed is next in the "Matched Trilogy" and for me November 2011 couldn't come sooner.

Overall I rate Matched 5 STARS
